Google’s Chrome OS specs leaked

December 28, 2009 Leave a comment

Remember that Google was going to be very strict over what type of hardware was going to run the forthcoming Chrome OS? Put away the rumors that it was going to to be pricey, we have the data.According to Gizmodo, the netbook is rumored to sport a chip set of the Tegra stripe with an ARM processor. The Zune HD also runs on Tegra, but expect this netbook to be on a faster set of chips. It should have a multi-touch 10.1 inch screen, a 64 gb SSD, and two gigabytes of ram.Of course, the netbook will be baked with all sorts of Google-goodness, given that Chrome OS is a Google driven project, open source or not.Best part: this netbook is supposed to be subsidized by Google, bringing the price to, get this, $300. Quite the sweet deal, right? Google will be selling them directly. In some places, they will bundled with wireless carriers, to have built in connectivity everywhere.Of course, we have no firm confirmation at this point, but if this turns out to be true, who is going to be mooning over the loss of the Crunchpad? This is much better.

Think Chrome OS is the only cloud based OS

November 29, 2009 Leave a comment

Watch out Chrome OS, Jolicloud means business. The cloud-based netbook operating system is feeling the heat and stepping it up, announcing their pre-beta release late last week.
So, why is Jolicloud worth a look? Compatibility with “almost every netbook” is a good first step. In addition, the developers are touting a really fresh and updated UI and an entirely cloud-based structure. The pre-beta release adds some cool functionality including a much easier installation process. Originally only available for install via a USB stick or .ISO image, Jolicloud’s developers are planning to release “Jolicloud Express”, a way to partition your drive and install the OS right on top of your Windows installation. This makes removing it nice and easy and simplifies some issues people have been having with the installation. The developers are really excited about the release and will be pushing out more invitations soon. When asked why they’re building it, they had one thing to say:
The convergence of the cloud, mobile connectivity and affordable netbooks is powering a computer revolution that everyone can be part of. Together let’s build Jolicloud and make it one of the driving forces in this revolution.

CHROME OS

would the chrome os be classified as a an official os or as just a really smart advanced browser. My opinion I think that it is just really a sofistacated browser that holds all your information in the clouds. Which that makes me wonder if goole is going to allow to hold all your info in the clouds. We won’t offically know until more realeased I will tell you all the info I know if I hear something.
